Hippocratessaid, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."

Cleansing the Body through Diet (continued) “Day 8 of 2011"

                 Powerful medicine foods

Today we want to look at pungent foods from the Alliums family. These foods are
full of antioxidants and phytonutrients. What are antioxidants? Antioxidants
are substances or nutrients in our foods which can protect our cells against the
effects of free radicals. Free radicals are molecules produced when our body
breaks down food, or by environmental exposures like tobacco smoke and
radiation. Free radical’s damage cells and is believed, to play a role in heart
disease, cancer and other diseases.

Leek, garlic, and onions are curative foods; full of manganese, vitamin C, B6,
and vitamin P, which is bioflavonoid. These foods clean the arteries, retard
the growth of viruses, yeasts, ferments, infectious bacteria, and help to remove
heavy metals, and parasites from our body.
Let’s look at just a few benefits of garlic. Garlic is known as a powerful
medicine and a healing food. It is considered as a natural antibiotic, because
it contains allicin, which is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. When
detoxing the body, garlic will boost the immune system and clean the digestive
tract of bugs. There are many more benefits to garlic. This segment will
continue….please follow the post, there is much more to come.

Hippocratessaid, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."
